"She's back from her last voyage! Isn't she beautiful?!" Susanne ran out to the railing. A wave hit the coast, the water flying above the girl making it seem like her excitement was reciprocated by the waters themselves. The sight caught Erika in awe as she slowly made her steps towards her friend. As she looked beyond Susanne the grand ocean liner captivated her too. Never before she have felt so small compared to something. The night lights, reflectors illuminated the ship that floated proudly, dwarfing everything in sight."She sure is something..." Erika replied as she reached for the railings."I wish I could have a ship like her!" Susanne stood on the railings, reaching towards the ship."What would you do with something so huge? This isn't a private yacht." Erika asked, confused slightly as she stood behind Susanne to make sure she won't fall."I don't want her just for me silly! I would set her on voyages all across the world for everyone! I would go to Tasmania, to Japan, Brazil..." she turned around with a smile on her face. "And I will bring you with me."------------------------In the scorching summer Erika slowly made her way down the old sewer and towards the dock. She was certain the SS Europa was waiting for her. She did so for 15 years now. The ship was battered and bruised but she was floating nonetheless prouder. Her paint has chipped away, her hull is corroded, but against all odds she never sunk. However she wasn't the reason Erika came all this way after so many years. She spotted Susanne leaning against the railing, looking at the ocean liner in melancholy. "I knew I would find you here." said Erika as she stood next to the wall, as if waiting for permission to come closer."You didn't need to come here. I've got your message loud and clear." she looked over her shoulder, her eyes red from the tears she must have shed. "I am a freak..." her was voice rasp and tired.Erika looked at her like a child who was scolded. "I didn't... I didn't mean any of that." she said, taking a step closer."Then why would you say it?! How could you say it..." Susanne turned back around, trying to hide the fact that she was about to cry once again.Erika walked up next to the woman, who couldn't bring herself to move away. "She's yours." Erika stated as she held a piece of paper towards Susanne."What do you mean?" Susanne turned her head towards Erika, frustrated she glanced at the paper. It was a purchase deed. For Susanne time stopped right there right then. She saw her name, Erika's name, some fellow named Sir Archibald Blake and... She looked up from the paper at the still the Europa. "She is... mine?" She gazed at the ship for a while before she shook her head. "You think you can just buy me a ship, say you're sorry and I'm goin' to for give you?! You broke my fucking heart Erika! I knew loving you was wrong!" She straightened up as she was now truly shouting from the top of her lungs."This was supposed to be your birthday gift. The same day I met you... It still is." she handed the paper to Susanne who hesitantly took it from her with shaking hands. "What I said and did is... something I wouldn't forgive for anyone else either. I've made a fool out of myself and in the process I've betrayed you and your feelings... I expect no forgiveness. I don't expect gratitude either. All I ask of you is to accept her. I have already signed a contract with a company that will refurbish her for you. You are her owner. My company is the operator." she took a glance at the ship. Watching how workers were boarding the SS Europa for the first time in years. "Wherever you command, this ship will bring you there." Her expression was flushed, she tried to keep a straight face. But Erika was shaking. The silence of waves crashing against the dock and the ship fell between them. Susanne glanced at the contract. Erika kept on looking at the ship. She could hardly look at the woman standing before her. She didn't care if her investment was rejected. She didn't care about any monetary costs. All she cared about is to see Susanne happy again."She will not go anywhere without you on board." Erika heard Susanne's voice but her mind was racing way too much to understand what she was saying. The realisation only hit her when Susanne grabbed her hand and guided it away from the railing.
"Will you come with me on the maiden voyage of Liberté?"
